SPIRIT OF ANGLING SHORE-CLEAN-UP OPERATION
All anglers taking part in an Angling Spirit event must now as part of their condition of entry, complete a shoreline clean-up. We can’t wait to see all your pictures to see how much your contribution is making a positive impact on your favourite sport.
BAIT USAGE PROVISION OF INFORMATION
Local authorities are now granting World Carp Classic the right to stage the event on the basis that all anglers can provide their daily bait usage. This is done to gather information to be able to conduct water quality studies. These can only be done when large events are being run – our new event, the Sea Angling Classic, is being used exactly in the same manner. We all have a role to play towards the environment and future generations, and we are grateful for your full cooperation.
NATURE QUIET ZONES
Lac de Madine is one of the major ornithological sites in northern France. You might not be aware but the lake was badly hit by the avian flu at the back end of 2021. It is more important than ever that the quiet designated areas are fully respected. Water police will be checking and enforcing their rules and penalties accordingly.

COVID-19 & other sanitary measures
As a reminder, World Carp Classic 2025 is run abiding by all rules as set out by the French Government and the Prefecture of the Meuse, and other local authorities, which have the right to add local rules to the ones set out by the government.
Currently, and as we understand it, France has lifted all measures, but it is the responsibility of each individual attending the event to ensure they do so in accordance with the law of France, but also of any country they may come to enter for arriving in France.
Ensure to get your information using official government websites and to keep a link to all relevant pages you have found to re-check before travelling.
We strongly suggest you read our dedicated COVID-19 page
OTHER IMPORTANT POINTS
1- Minimum weight: 4kg
2- 6 rods per swim allowed
3- 350 meters limit: For the first time, Lac de Madine has agreed to a 350-meter allowance. Black Cat buoys will be placed. Any infringement will be sanctioned and fines/gear confiscation expected if the nature quiet zones are not respected.
4- ‘Friends OF’ litter penalty: ‘ Friends OF’ and the host venue’s litter rule is now slightly changed following discussion with the host venues. At their discretion, a fine will be issued and sent to competitors who will have 28 days from the date it is sent to pay it or to comply with its community service alternative. If no payment/community service is made to the venue by that time, World Carp Classic will then apply a name & shame ban, remaining in place until the fine has been paid or community service has been completed.
5- Fishing Permits: To comply with French Fishing Federation rules, anglers will need to get their permits. A link with a full explanation and details will be provided. This will require participants’ cooperation before their arrival to ensure a smooth run during on-site registration.
