Leaderboard History

The leaderboard’s origin traces back to 2013, sparked by an unexpected event involving participant Ron van den Bergh. That year, Ron entered Event HQ just as we learned the previous supplier had stumbled in creating the needed system. Their suggestion was to persist with Excel. Yet, Ron, with a wealth of over 30 years of programming at the time, stepped in.
By 2014, Ron achieved an impressive feat for Angling Spirit. Not only did he pioneer the World Carp Classic online leaderboard and app system, but also the World Predator Classic featuring advanced boat tracking. By 2019, technology’s evolution prompted further change. While Ron’s programming skills were evident, we entrusted the internet aspect to another provider. This is when we crossed paths with Mark Harraway, capable of overseeing both developments.
