A hot meal ready in 12 minutes that’s as easy as 1 2 3 – open the can, pierce the rim, stir occasionally – that’s all you have to do. Hotcan® requires no preparation and each Hotcan® contains an individual portion, so wastage and over or under catering can be eliminated. Hotcan is available in a range of menus including vegetarian options. All provide a good portion (400g to 425g) of a hot nourishing and tasty meal. Choose from: Special menus, such as other Halal menus, Kosher or other ethnic menus, can be manufactured, subject to technical analysis and contents. Using a long established and proven technology Hotcan® provides an easily transportable, clean, fuss-free meal that does not need any form of external power, which makes it the ideal catering solution for on-attendance and out of hours feeding. Hotcan® needs no special storage facilities so it can be easily and safely stored and transported anywhere. This is achieved by having a standard food tin holding the meal surrounded by an outer casing, which contains the reactive elements. The hermetically sealed unit is punctured with the tool provided to set off a gradual exothermic reaction that gives off the heat which raises the temperature of the meal to approximately 65C in 10 – 12 minutes.
An insulating outer cover protects your hand when picking up the can, as well as saving heat loss. This totally non-toxic system is tough with a shelf life of up to 3-years, is non-polluting, and has no unpleasant odour. After use, Hotcan® is fully re-cyclable where facilities exist. Because our foods are canned they are completely sterile having been pre-cooked at high temperature (Fo>3) for a period of approximately 70 minutes and are ready to eat when you open the can. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE - Remove plastic cap and place on bottom of can to protect your hand from heat.
- With the metal spike provided, push through the three holes in the rim of the Hotcan, making sure you push the spike to its maximum depth through each hole.
- Lift the ring pull and pull back slowly to open the can.
- Stir contents occasionally whilst the food is heating.
- Ready to eat after 10-15 minutes. May be eaten directly from the can or may be served in a mug or on a plate.
THE PROCESS - The system is made up of a food can contained within an outer can.
