FAC'S (Frequently Asked Questions) FAQ item 1 Q - Can I use any type of boat in the competition? A - The simple answer is no, but you can find out the related restrictions by visiting sections C, I and J (boat rules) and also the General Rules section.. Please Read FAQ Item 2 Q - Where can I find out more about the Meuse region and its weather? A - We have included a link to the official Lac de Madine website in our Sponsors section HERE, and there is a link to a French weather website under the 'resources' tab, or you can go direct to the site HERE FAQ Item 3 Q - Why do we need insurance? A - For your own peace of mind that you are covered for anything happening while traveling in France. Some of you may require an extension if traveling outside your home country. We would also recommend that it is also a good idea to subscribe to a European car assistance organization. Please Note: We do not need to see this policy - but we encourage you to check to ensure that you have the correct cover and that the policy is valid for the duration of your trip. FAQ Item 4 Q - Why do we need travel insurance? A - We recommend that you have adequate travel to cover reimbursement all associated costs, including entry fees, in the case of a travel delay that leads to you missing the start, and/or all of the competition. As per the WCC Terms and Conditions, you will not be entitled to a refund. PLEASE NOTE:- We do not need to see this policy - although we strongly recommend that you have this in place. FAQ Item 5 Q - What insurance cover do I need to use my boat? A - It is a requirement under French law that all craft used during the competition are covered by third party liability insurance. This is to provide you with, in the event of an accident, sufficient cover against any damage to third party or other boats while afloat (in use or adrift). We recommend that that you obtain this cover through a reputable insurance company in your country of origin and ensure that it covers use in France for the event. PLEASE NOTE:- We will need to see a copy of your boat insurance if you are using a boat. FAQ Item 6 Q:- Where can I get the required insurance? In the UK www.noblemarine.co.uk/ is one of many options that can be found by searching the web under boat insurance. They can provide the necessary cover for circa £30 per boat. A - This is important cover that you are required to have to cover you should you injure a third party, as well as any damage you may cause while competing in the event. PLEASE NOTE:- We will need to see this document, or a signed form by your insurer, to ensure all participants/Team Runners are fully covered during the event. FAQ Item 8 Q – What should I include on my insurance checklist? A - In order to help you to know which insurance cover is required for the duration of the event an online checklist form will be available on the official World Carp Classic Website www.worldclassic.com As the event is taking place in France please ensure that your insurance will cover you outside your home country if relevant. FAQ Item 9 Q – What do I need to do if I need to make a team change? A - Notification of team changes should be made no later than 14 days prior to the event. Changes may be made via email or phone to the World Carp Classic. Only competitors and their Team Runner are allowed to bivvy up by the lake, unless by prior agreement with the organizers. Other family members or friends can either bivvy up at the Bivvy Camp or rent local onsite accommodation. FAQ Item 10 Q – What is the latest date that I can register a Team Runner? A - You can register a Team Runner up until Friday the 29th of August by simply notifying WCC office by telephone or email. PLEASE NOTE:- Payment (Cash only) will be accepted onsite during registration time. It is compulsory that the Team Runner registers at the same time as the competing team. FAQ Item 11 Q – When can I use the onsite Bivvy Camp? A - Bivvy Camp will be open from Friday 29th and will be available for use by all competitors prior to the start of the competition. Bivvy Camp will also be available during the competition to be used by guests. FAQ Item 12 Q - Are boats needed everywhere on the lake? A - No, but may be used by competitors at their own risk, and you may find it beneficial to have one. If a rental boat is required, we strongly advise you to arrange this before arrival at the event. The organizers do not accept any responsibility for the provision of rental boats.Please Note - Please refer yourself to section J of the rules. FAQ Item 13 Q – Are there facilities for me to get any batteries that I might have recharged? A - At the event HQ they have agreed to batteries being recharged for a small fee. FAQ Item 14 Q – Will there be plenty of space between swims? A - It depends on the location of the section and location of the swim, but great care has been taken to ensure that all competitors will have swims that are accessible and competitive. PLEASE NOTE:- Although the majority of the swims will be virgin swims, and as such, the placement of bivvies and camps for the event needs to be done respecting the surroundings and local environment. FAQ Item 15 Q - Are there going to be any muddy areas? A – As the water level of Lac de Madine is constant and remains the same, it is doubtful that there will be any muddy swims. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be the case, so you should be prepared for this eventuality. Be prepared FAQ Item 16 Q – What shops and facilities are there in the area? A - We will include - in the general info section of the initial competitor’s pack - a list of shops and facilities that can be found around the lake. PLEASE NOTE:- Shops are closed on Sunday in France and local shops are more akin to convenient stores than large supermarkets. Therefore we would advise that you stock up on the Saturday in nearby Relais des Mousquetaires Relais des Mousquetaires. A - WCC will supply all competitors with appropriate permits for the duration of the event. If you already hold a French permit can you please notify us. FAQ Item 18 Q – Do I need a boat permit? A - We have made all necessary arrangements with local authorities regarding the use of boats during the competition. FAQ Item 19 Q – Do I have to stay in the swim at all times? A - Rods must be reeled in when both competitors leave their peg at the same time. If only one angler leaves, there is no need to reel in. FAQ Item 20 Q – How many lifejackets do my team require? A - If you have a Team Runner you must have two life jackets if it is intended that the runner gives you a hand steering the boat, otherwise one life-jacket is sufficient. Please Note:- You won’t be able to rent life-jackets onsite so please ensure you bring your own - making sure it bears the CE tag (rules I02&03) FAQ Item 21 Q – Will the lake be closed to fishing prior to the event? A - The lake will be closed a few days ahead of the competition to carp angling. If you wish to extend your stay and fish the lake after the event please let us know and we will help you to arrange your stay. |
