Romanian Qualifying Event on Lake Raduta, October 3rd – 8th.   Enduring a very difficult week, all 21 teams involved in the Romanian qualifying event for the 2012 World Carp Classic worked their way through to the finish. The fishing conditions were not perfect – the water level was up 25cm in the days prior the competition, so the fish were affected by that. Despite these issues, 20 of the teams managed to catch fish, most of them adjusting their strategy on the move.

They started off using boilies and searching for common and mirror carp, but finished by fishing for grass carp using maize.

As you would expect when considering the prizes – €10.000 for first place, €5.000 for the biggest fish - and the fact that the chances to win a place for 2012 WCC were 33% (7 teams out of 21), the competition was tough and close.

The biggest fish of the competition, (left) at 19kg exactly, was weighed in by the team Lukacz-Dochita-Ureche-Bucur, winning the €5.000 cash prize.

The team consisting of Iorgos Georgiadis (a Greek angler living and working for years in Bucharest), Dan Constantin, Radu Iscru and Vlad Parfene (all of them with WCC background) lead the event from start to finish, adding 188.9 kilos to the final catch list and grabbing the big cash prize.

It was a successful, fair and very close competition with only 2kg making the difference between staying home and a ticket to Italy. Congrats to the winners, well done to all qualified teams, and bravo to all the competitors. - Photos courtesy of PV-TV
