This year's event there will again be distance markers out around the lake roughly inbetween every third swim. The markers will be placed at approximatley 200 metres out and will give competitors a clear indication of the maximum distance they are allowed to fish out from the bank.
That distance is 200 metres, the extra distance to allow for playing of fish etc, competitors are not allowed to fish up to the marker. If they do they will be yellow carded and a further offence will mean end of competition for you. It worked well last year despite some competitors not liking the idea, it didn't affect the numbers caught as even more carp were caught than in 2008. If you are caught fishing beyond the markers then you could face a straight red card and expulsion from the event. The rules will be strictly enforced this year again and all marshals will have the ability to yellow card competitors. So trying to cheat and fish further out will mean an early exit and a life time ban from the WCC. It's going to be tough but all competitors should have the same chance and distance, it doesn't always mean more fish...
