![]() As you all know autumn is here and winter is just around the corner, bite rates will start to drop as the carp slow down with temperatures starting to fall. It is vital that small tweaks are made to your baits, rigs and approach to give consistent bites through autumn/winter so you’re not just wasting your time sitting on the bank in the cold. Here are 3 tips which I use in my fishing through autumn/winter and have been successful. Tip 1 BaitIt is vital to use bait in these autumn/winter conditions that give you that little edge in appearance and attraction. CC Moore’s Peach and Black Pepper Hellraisers do exactly that. With these Hellraisers being packed with high levels of potent attractors, N-Butyric Acid, Betaine and carefully selected concentrated flavours peach and black pepper they release an attraction that will instantly entice a carp to feed, even in low temperatures. With these pop-ups being produced with the rarely-used black dye this creates a strong visual signal that matches the level of attraction produced by the appetite stimulants used, which will give any angler that uses them a real edge. ![]() Through autumn/winter I tend to use single hook baits, but if you’re fishing on a regular basis on a chosen winter venue you can pre-bait spots (when pre baiting through the colder months I found live system to do the business). I would recommend pre baiting 1-2kg on each spot and pre bait 2-3 times a week. When fishing these spots, fish a PVA stringer of around 2-4 freebies, this will hopefully keep the fish feeding through winter and visiting these spots. I have found success using both methods. ![]() Tip 2 Visibility Through autumn/winter the water becomes much clearer, so remember to camouflage your end tackle as much as possible so it blends in with the lake bottom. If you can see it in the water, so can the fish! Tip 3 Finding the carp Starting early gives you that chance to find the fish. Any bubbling, showing fish and water displacement may give away where the fish are hiding, so remember early starts may give you that chance of finding the fish and set up your day! Also any showing fish throughout the day is definitely a sign of where fish are or moving to, casting a single hookbait to a showing fish through autumn/winter is a deadly method and one not to forget.
The proof is in the bait! Try them, catch them and be lucky Tight lines Warren Fenn
