News has just come in that carp have been caught ...... The call that I had been waiting for. Now the question was what size. There was a real air of excitement. Well have I got news for you...I hope so I have been waiting long enough. So are you going to tell me then? After some serious teasing and suggestions that our likely lads had blanked they could not contain themselves any longer. We caught 2 last night one at 17kgs and one mirror at 22.7kgs.Deeper water had been found and it was from these areas that the prizes came from. What is more they lost a couple as well. The guys are now really confident that they will be in for some great sport over the next few days. The traps are working the areas are cleared and the weather for the next few days and this weekend is looking spot on.
One take worthy of reporting was in the early hours of the morning that regrettably ended in the line snapping. After a short while the laminated marker float could be seen whizzing around disappearing and then re appearing. The guys hopped into a boat then headed off in chase of the marker float. After some considerable time and some swift maneuvering the marker float was grabbed and the line that was attached to it pulled in by hand. They could feel that there was a fish on the end and indeed there was ....a fine tench. Who needs rods and reels anyway!!
