Back to the magical Lac de Madine! Print Email

Of course the Classic has been held at Madine in the past, in fact this prestigious match was launched on the lake all those years ago before moving around the big French venues of Amance and Orient in preceding years.  Its back home now though, and those early years saw some terrific fishing and some awesome carp being caught.  The 2008 match should be even better, though, as the rules will be the same as those used on the Orient Classics, i.e. boats can be used by anglers which never happened before at Madine.  Not that they will be essential as new areas will be opened up to the match, the lake is not known for its long distance fishing as the majority of carp get caught from the close range weed beds that cover many areas of the lake.  As for the stock of carp, well, there is a very good head of commons and leathers, but the vast amount of carp are beautifully scaled mirror carp weighing anything from 10lb to 70lb, which is the current record for the lake.  There is then a very good chance that a real Madine monster could be caught and beat the current Classic record which came from the Orient two years ago.

The rules of the match, as mentioned above, will be similar to those of the Classic of the last two years which have proved very popular, as boats now form an essential part of the European carp anglers kit, especially on the challenging big waters which Madine is, get it right and Madine will produce the goods for you and you could be 2008 champion.  The match will be fished over 5 days and nights, with 4 rods allowed per pair, and prize money for the winning pair will be £10,000 along with section prizes and prize for biggest fish.  There will also be the very popular pre-match draw and party on the eve of the match which just gets better and better each year and has all the tension, excitement and entertainment which a match on the scale of the World Carp Classic brings.

The current champions Jean Pierre Becker and Yves Hauk, from France will be there defending their title.  Will it be you and you partner representing your country that will be flying the flag and carrying away a share of the £50,000 prize table

If that was not enough, and as this is the 10th anniversary, we want to make it extra special and so on the weekend leading into the match there will be a massive festival of fishing with a huge display from all your favourite tackle manufacturer’s, bait companies and magazines, and there will be demonstrations on the lake, presentations from top named anglers, and much, much more.  Quite simply it will be an event you just can't miss.
