It was party time at Madine 2010 and I was at the Jetfish hospitality tent when the question popped up why don’t I come and fish the Slovakia and Czech Republic. I must have had too much to drink as I found myself agreeing. Fast forward 9 months and I’m landing at Bratislava the capital of Slovakia. The fishing is starting in the Czech Republic. A 2 hour drive and then coming back to Slovakia a week later, which you can read about in Big Water Carper.

As well as the fishing I was also looking forward to visiting the Jetfish factoy. So once done with the fishing we stopped of at the premises based in Pelhrimov, Czech republic to have a look around. My guide was Jaroslav Tesinsky and Matus Svet . It was certainly impressive with a shop at the entrance selling all the carp tackle and bait you could ever want, this then led into the storage area where all stock is held and lastly the bait area where

mixes are made up from scratch and packaged, including the very popular Biosquid and Biocrab. There are only 5 staff including Jaroslav who does alot of the bait rolling especially in the winter when there’s no fishing as there’s normally a metre of snow and -15 outside.

After the visit I moved to Slovakia and fished with Peter Simonic who on taking me back to the airport at the end of the trip showed me around his Jetfish shop in Bratislava.

Again very impressive lots of tackle and bait, which apart from Jetfish gearincluded Fox, Korda, Carp r Us, Nutrabaits etc, there was also good ranges of clothing.

What I really found interesting was all Peter’s memorabilia from previous World Carp Classics including peg numbers and posters and his huge array of carp from around Europe.

Having been at the World Carp Classic for a good number of years for which

Jetfish have been a sponsor it was really great to visit the countries and see their impressive set up.
