Andrew Judd & Peter Truckle winners 2008The World Carp Classic’s 10th Anniversary celebrations were suitably marked by a succession of new event records being established. The new Champions for 2008, England’s Andrew Judd & Peter Truckle, stormed into an unassailable lead on day three and were never to look back.  Banking a massively impressive 140.4kg (309lbs) between them, the pair went on in emphatic style to scoop the £10,000 prize and prestigious title.

Meanwhile, the English pairing of Kevin Hewitt & Mark Bartlett, were busily attempting to thwart their English counterparts. Ultimately, despite their valiant attempt, it was to no avail, but in attaining a fine 2nd place in the pairs, Kevin Hewiit & Mark Bartlett 2nd placeKevin and Mark went one step better in the 6-man Team Event, and thanks entirely to their catch, Team Carpworld retained the Team Title.

All in all, the competition was an outstanding success, and the news given to competitors at the closing ceremony that it is to return to Madine for the next three years was greeted with great enthusiasm.
