I had been given their Tiger Nuts in Talin and Steeped Black Tiger Nuts along with Odyssey XXX boilies and various other bits and pieces.

Today, in the production of carp baits a trend has been launched that most companies are offering the cheapest boilies. This unfortunately means that the lowest priced feed is low quality and often is harmful for carp.

It was quite amazing to see how quickly this years event at Madine was fully subscribed leaving many, many people disappointed. The 2008 event was such a success and it was not hard to see why so many carp anglers from around Europe and the Rest of the World want to be a part of one of the greatest carp matches on the planet.

What is going on ?? I am writing this in the hope that some of you will read this and sign the following petition.

At the moment over here in Portugal, certain agencies of the government are planning to pass a law that if implemented will mean the killing of all the carp, (along with quite a few other species like pike, European perch, largemouth bass, wels catfish to name a few) in all the nations waterways.

I was born on marginal forest that was inwrought Danubian arms. Childhood I have spent on their banks and I was noticing the fishers art. Over time I provided for myself first rod and started my fishing life. Already then I knew that fishing would become part of my life and some of it spent on the banks of rivers, lakes and dams.

Now where to start, I suppose it started about 3 months ago when a friend of mine Frank rang me from Ireland to ask me if I would be interested in fishing the World Carp Classic. Frank had, had the idea of an Irish entry in the world carp classic for some time now and had contacted the organizers of the competition and booked a place and had also generously paid the 850 sterling entry fee.

As you probably know base mixes do not work properly on muddy lake bottoms. The main problem is that almost all venues where we fish do have muddy bottoms. Anglers usually look for spots with snags and bars. These spots are under pressure and fish are starting to stop feeding there. Almost all carp feed on muddy bottoms, more than they are used to doing in another parts of the lake. The reason for this is simple. On muddy bottoms fish can find natural food like worms, bloodworms and mussels. I believe that every keen angler has been in the situation when he can see fish showing around his spot but has no take and no fish in the net. Also if you want to be successful when fishing venues with a muddy bottom it is important to have boilie (bait) made especially for this style of fishing.

The Organisers of the World Carp Classic are delighted to announce that FishingMagic is to become a media partner of this year event.

There has been huge interest in the World Carp Classic following the record breaking event last year and this created a rush for places. The event sold out in 5 weeks with 260 happy anglers from over 20 countries snapping up the places. A further 600 plus were unfortunate and plans are in place for 2010 to address this. Lac de Madine in North West France will again stage the event with anglers competing for the increased prize table of £70,000.
