The team competition in the World Carp Classic has been fiercely contested over the years and remarkably for the past 3 years has been won by the Carp World Team. This is a record that is going to be hard to beat.

A couple of weeks ago the 1st Spanish World Carp Classic qualifying event took place on Lake Orellana, Extremadura Spain. The heat was extreme with temperatures soaring above 35 Deg C+. Those brave pairs fishing caught an amazing 1,595lbs of carp.

The World Carp Classic Hungarian qualifier, due to take place on 19th - 26th June, has been postponed for 10 days due to the storms and flooding in the capital of Budapest.

Fishing, carp fishing in particular is all about confidence especially with your choice of baits so when I was recently very kindly handed some CC Moore bait I was more than pleased. I knew their reputation and having dabbled with them in the past had some experience with them. I had been given their Tiger Nuts in Talin and Steeped Black Tiger Nuts along with Odyssey XXX boilies and various other bits and pieces.

The WCC Polish qualifier took place on 26th-30th May on Dobro Klasztorne Lake with great success. The event went very well with 18 teams taking part and 76 carp caught weighing a total of 446 kg. The main sponsor was Traper.

After the success of the Gibraltar qualifying event in April we have been spent two press releases about the event.

Ultima have announced that their renowned consultant Steve Renyard will fish The World Carp Classic in 2010 for Ultima and with long term fishing partner Pete Wilson.

Mick Paine, owner and the organiser of the successful CARP shows in Zwolle, The Netherlands reported another record breaking year at the 16th edition.

The first World Carp Classic Dutch qualifier ever will be set up in the middle of the city Amsterdam, capital of The Netherlands. 4 days, 33 couples, plenty of stunning BIG fish over 20kg, an outstanding opening ceremony and prize giving facilities (OPIUM club restaurant).

Earlier in the year a phone conversation had me on the edge of my seat, during a visit to Northern France some friends had found a venue that seem to fit the requirements we looked for in a new venue. What was needed was for some anglers to go over and test fish the venue and was I up for it, was I ever!

In spending more than 2 years in development no stone has been left unturned in the creation of our latest bait, N-Gage XP. The weekend has slipped by and I have been spending my time wisely. January and February’s Carpworld has been written which means I now have some breathing space and more importantly allows me more time to get into the fishing in Italy, before I have to rush together a story that might have only just begun.

We had the day to appraise what we would do for the forthcoming evening and to tie more rigs, PVA socks, make phone calls, drink tea and eat dinner. Koos and Bernie, the Dutch pair from Indyline section, on the main Island next to the start of Pescalis section came round during the day to say hello and to re- inform us we were in 1st place and that they were in second place.

Following an invitation from the organisers of a carp show in Budapest last weekend, Andy Chambers and I, accompanied by the current World Carp Classic Champions, Rob Tough and Tom Duncan Dunlop headed for the red eye flight from Luton. Only 3 of us made the flight! That was a good start.

For those of you who won cash prizes (section winners and winning team) at WCC09 and have been allocated places already for WCC2010, but are not yet confirmed, there is a cut off date of 4th December 2009 for confirming these places.

The Match - Monday morning arrived and we drove off to our launch point. We were soon being boated across to our swim for the 3pm start of the match on the Monday. One of the prematch tactics Tom and I had discussed was to take the microcat baitboat with remote echo sounder.

Pre match - Friday..... 27 August 2009 at about 10.30 a.m. Tom, Sam (our runner) and I set off from my house fully laden, as usual, with more kit, bait, food, water and supplies than you could ever imagine  would be sufficient for only 1 weeks fishing.

The record of largest fish ever caught at the WCC, which Jason Cann broke on Wednesday morning, was incredibly broken yet again this morning.

Despite the changing weather yesterday and last night was a great time for countries that have never caught a fish before in the World Carp Classic.

We are delighted to announce that at 03:00 this morning Jason Cann caught the largest carp ever recorded in the 11 years of the World Carp Classic competition!

We have had 22 fish caught so far in the competition with 15 of them being caught in the first 24 hours.

We have just been informed of the first catch of the 2009 World Carp Classic!

This will probably come as great relief to those competing in the WCC. Last night at approximately 6pm the wind picked up and dark clouds rolled in. A few specks of rain were felt and by the time darkness fell, lightning lit up the skies and Steve and I counted the seconds between the rumbles of thunder.

Well we finally made it to the stunning lake by Nonsard in North East France. After a few goodbyes I left Gigantica yesterday lunchtime, as planned, and was soon heading east towards my destination. Two hours or one hundred and forty kilometres later, I arrived at Madine 1.

I just bought a new boat and decided to take her for the maiden voyage this past weekend.

This year the World Carp Classic goes from strength to strength and for the first year we have official hooks for all competitors. These hooks are no ordinary item, thoroughly tested on some of Europe's biggest fish by some of Europe's finest fishermen.

We are excited to be returning once again to Madine! This is the second year we have managed to get a free trip – airfare & entrance fee paid for, for the WCC.

Same swim as every year, 20-23 degree Celsius, changing clouds with lots of wind… a north-eastward straight into the bay, it couldn’t be better! Then we see somewhere between 200-300 swans, right in front of our swim.

I suppose you could argue all day about what is the most important part of carp angling, is it location, bait choice, presentation?
All of these are vital of course, but without a good hook we would never catch a thing.

In late May 2008 our tutors announced a “special” guest lecture scheduled for the following week. Attendance was voluntary and the subject was to be the World Carp Classic 2008.

Today, in the production of carp baits a trend has been launched that most companies are offering the cheapest boilies. This unfortunately means that the lowest priced feed is low quality and often is harmful for carp.

It was quite amazing to see how quickly this years event at Madine was fully subscribed leaving many, many people disappointed. The 2008 event was such a success and it was not hard to see why so many carp anglers from around Europe and the Rest of the World want to be a part of one of the greatest carp matches on the planet.

 
We are pleased to announce that Attila Csákány, who works for CarpLove, has caught a new PB. It is a great achievment for any angler to get a new PB and this is no exception. Here is some information as to how he caught it and some great pictures to show how excited he is!

Congratulations to Colin Peters and Tom Brooks who are the 1st pair to win a US qualifier at the South Central Regionals at Lake Hominy, Oklahoma hosted by CARPT Tournament Series. They are from North Carolina and also competed in last year’s event.

I was born on marginal forest that was inwrought Danubian arms. Childhood I have spent on their banks and I was noticing the fishers art. Over time I provided for myself first rod and started my fishing life. Already then I knew that fishing would become part of my life and some of it spent on the banks of rivers, lakes and dams.

 In August of last year, I was seven months into my mammoth, European carp fishing trip. I had already spent time fishing in France, Italy and Germany. Whilst fishing at Cassien, I had made the decision that I would go along to the World Carp Classic being held at Lac de Madine.

I founded the Jet Fish Company twenty years ago. I have been fishing since I was eight years old, which means more than thirty years. I started to produce fish feed according to my own recipes which I used for fishing and with them I had and I still have great success.
