World Carp Classic
Madine August 31st - 6th September 2008

2008 event is full in record time

We are delighted to welcome you to the launch of the 2008 World Carp Classic. 2008 is a very special year in the history of the event as we will be celebrating our 10th Anniversary. It is great news that we will be returning to the lake where it all began….. the famous Lac de Madine in the Meuse region of France in the competion at Madine.

You can only wonder how big the carp that were caught at 30 and 40lbs 10 years ago will be now and we are looking forward to seeing them again. We have been granted an exceptional dispensation to have access to more bank space than ever before and importantly, boats will be allowed for the first time.

Madine has always produced good numbers of carp during the previous competitions with the majority of them being caught on the last night. In the early years at Madine the World Carp Classic was 2 nights and 3 days so, this year, with 6 days and 5 nights and the use of boats there should be some good numbers of carp caught. Madine is a lake that does not have the vast numbers of snags that the Orient has ….but who knows, it is carp fishing after all……. With more countries than ever before entering, and with JRC as the title sponsor and fantastic support sponsors, the stage is now set for a cracking event.

In the first year of the event we had 146 pegs but to ensure that there is plenty of space and that all pegs are as comfortable as possible we are limiting the number of places to 120. Priority is being given to previous competitors in recognition of their support of the event to date.

As in previous years, the event will start off in style with a tremendous opening ceremony where friendships are renewed and one or two bottles of beer are emptied….amongst other things. The peg draw will be done at the opening ceremony and the following morning competitors will be free to go to their pegs from dawn.

We will be using 3 islands for the competition. Transport will be provided and a military style operation will be put in place to ensure that competitors are taken to their pegs in good time for the start of the competition.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary there will be a 3-day festival that will be held. This will start on Friday and finish on Sunday, just before the official opening of the 2008 World carp Classic. There will be a huge ‘not to be missed’ party on the Saturday night, but more on the festival later. Full details will be published on the website soon.

We hope that you like the look and feel of the new site and we will be adding lots more content which we hope you will find of interest.

This is The Event, and The Occasion, not to be missed

See you at Madine
