Lake Madine is an artificial body of water in Lorraine, straddling the departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle and Meuse on the course of a sub-tributary of the Moselle, Madine.

Included in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine, Lake Madine is in the plain of Woëvre, biogeographically characterized by layers of clay up to a depth of 100 metres.

This plain and swampy forest was gradually drained by the creation of channels and fishponds that has been made between the 12th and 16th centuries by monks dedicated to improving the health sector.

With water put into it in 1965, the lake has a threefold purpose;- reserve drinking water for the metropolitan area adjacent to Metz, National Hunting and wildlife, and recreation area (beaches, sports harbour), whose particularity is to be reserved for yachts, motor boats are thus prohibited.

It covers an area of close to 1100 hectares, there are two small islands.  It holds 35 million cubic meters and its catchment area covers an area of 32.2 square kilometres.
