What does it take? Print E-mail

A few weeks on from last year’s event I interviewed the 2010 WCC Champions, George Csonka and John Roberts of England, and I was left in no doubt what it takes to win the competition. Having interviewed previous winners also, one common denominator is that you have to be 100% prepared to give every ounce of energy you have. Sleep deprivation is something that is coped with by some people far better than it is with others, and there is no doubt that to haul yourself through each of the six energy sapping days and nights it requires extraordinary determination.

You guessed it, there’s nothing more important when you enter into a major tournament and I’m in the very unusual position of not being able to go through my normal routine...

I had already turned away several good offers (ahem) when, over the phone, the opportunity to join Team Richworth presented itself.
Of course, I didn’t want to appear to be too ‘desperate’ in jumping at the chance to join the team, so I stalled the answer to have a good long think about it... it must have been a good 0.5 of a milli-second before I accepted the invite.

The most amazing World Carp Classic ever is now underway.  The draw was completed last night and with the two previous winning pegs taken out of the draw it’s the most positive step that the organisers could have taken in the majority of anglers’ minds.

Bivvy CityFriday 3rd September

What a day that was... It started brightly and everyone was soon into their stride, and with team morale boosted by the arrival of the marshals on Thursday evening, the work was soon being eaten into at an even greater rate than before.
