Steve Howard joins Team Richworth Print E-mail
539-pic2It gives me the greatest of pleasure to announce that I, and my angling partner Danny Ormiston will be fishing in this years WCC for Team Richworth.
I had already turned away several good offers (ahem) when, over the phone, the opportunity to join Team Richworth presented itself.
Of course, I didn’t want to appear to be too ‘desperate’ in jumping at the chance to join the team, so I stalled the answer to have a good long think about it... it must have been a good 0.5 of a milli-second before I accepted the invite.
Richworth are a company with a massively impressive history that is to be greatly admired, not least because they thrive in an industry where companies come and go on an alarming basis. Survival in the bait making industry can be very short lived, as many have discovered, and it is obviously no mean feat to stand the test of time in the manner that Richworth have.  For more than 20 years Richworth has maintained its position as market leaders, achieved solely by producing top quality baits on a consistant basis. Your buisness doesn’t live too long if your bait doesn’t do the buisness!

539-pic1In the early years of my carp angling journey, prior to the emergance of bait making companies I, like everyone else made their own bait (Yes, you really did have to make your own). It was therefore a godsend to me when bait became available to buy as, although I had attained a good level of success on my own recipies, a change of career left me with very limited time. What time I did have, I wanted to spend on the bank and not in the kitchen!  Enter Richworth... cue Tutti-Frutti. What a bait!

To be perfectly clear here, if I had to put my house on catching a carp and I was in the situation where I could choose just ONE bolie to fish with, no matter where or when, it would be Richworths Tutti Frutti... and I can assure you that I’d feel quietly confident that my home was safe!  In fact, I can remember one particular day when I was almost in that situation, when after three days of not catching I was desperate to save the blank. I rummaged through my bag for my ‘old faithfuls’ and to my horror I discovered that I had just one Tutti left in the bag!  Without hesitation I reeled in one rod and put the Tutti on...and  just 30 minutes later it saved the day when a greedy 20lb mirror fell to its irresistible charms. It may seem implausible but they are that good that it almost feels like ‘cheating’ sometimes.
Anyway, suffice to say, I feel proud and excited to fish under the Richworth banner and I’m confident that if we fail to catch, it will certainly not be because of the bait or for the want of trying!
I’m hoping that, just like last year, I can do my WCC Blog but this time directly from the swim. If that is possible and can be arranged I will keep you updated as often as possible right throughout the competition.
