| Day three, two days to go! |

With just two days left to go today, everything was stepped up yet another gear yesterday. Andy Chambers and his team covered an amazing 31 miles by road, boat and foot, pegging out the islands and forested areas, and they are happy to report that they have now broken the back of the pegging-out phase. One final push today should see most, if not all of the remaining pegs positioned. The Sports hall was transformed still further yesterday by Andy Loble and his team, and with the sponsors welcoming boards and banners along both sides of the approach road to Madine 2&3, that part of the ‘Welcome to Madine’ is now in place. With the Marshals of Sparsholt and Shuttleworth Colleges arriving - like the cavalry riding in at sunset - late yesterday evening to bolster the troops, it was a case of ‘many hands make light work’ and,’ all hands on deck’ this morning... Unfortunately, I am missing out on all of this early morning activity and fun, as I have the very serious business of writing something for my blog to attend to Oh, how I suffer for my art! Retaining the military connotations, the well known phrase “an army marches on its stomach” is certainly the case here as, without Terry the Chef, life would certainly be more difficult and not anywhere near as productive or enjoyable... incredibly the guy caters for ‘the troops’ in a way that defies logic, with only very basic facilities and with a wave of his magic spatula, top dish after top dish is served to delight the pallet. The media team have been amazing, multi-tasking and undertaking several projects at once has been the normal order of the day and, for such a small group, there has been so much achieved already. Ian, Matt, Ash and Cam, (IMAC – for a nice smooth job) will swing into action at a moment’s notice and each time they have produced the goods no matter what has been thrown at them. I don’t like to talk out of school, but it has been rumoured that Ian has lost a stone in weight because of his daily bank-stomping outings with Andy Chambers... He set out yesterday morning looking like a well groomed, indestructible Grizzly Adams and returned some 8-hours later plastered in mud with electrical tape binding the blisters on his feet, ah bless.
Thought for the day: A ‘typo’ isn’t necessarily a bad thing: - you should have seen the hits we got when instead of ‘best practice fishing’, we inadvertently named our video ‘best practice fisting’ – the viewing figures went right through the roof!
