Hi again, I met up with my team mate Rob Nunn on Thursday at Suffolk Water Park www.suffolkwaterpark.com for a full on planning meeting over a steaming mug of tea and a bacon sarnie. We finalized our tackle and bait requirements and reviewed our baiting strategy for the event.
We will be using some new gear that will be launched in October this year, and although it has all been thoroughly tested by our Consultant and Product Development teams in the UK and on the Continent, I can’t wait to use them myself. Rob has been testing a new bivvy model for the last 5 months along with loads of other new tackle, and has had nothing but praise for it all, but with my fishing time so limited these days, the WCC will give me a good opportunity
We decided in the end to keep things fairly simple and resist the temptation to pile the bait in, as we are anxious to avoid the cats and other non carp species as much as possible. I know that like any competition, so much hinges on the draw, including the baiting strategy that you eventually adopt; but with the potential for a swim full of huge Madine carp in front of us, we will be bringing enough bait to ensure that we don’t run out! The latest news from the venue is that there are plenty of signs of big carp in many sections, and I know that my colleague Jan Mertens enjoyed a fantastic trip only a few weeks back with some Italian anglers and had many fish over 20kgs.
Bring it on !
