Plastic baits for Madine Print E-mail

bI know a lot of carper anglers don’t like crayfish but it’s the first thing I do when starting to bait up a swim, attract and start to get the crayfish feeding and the carp wont be far behind. It surprised me when I fished after WCC08 the amount of crayfish in Madine, I had certainly under estimated the population in the there and they were decent eating size ones as well. When anglers start to get pestered by crayfish they tend to switch baits to tigers or maize which I think is a mistake. Keep using and feeding boilies but perhaps look to fish a plastic bait on the hair, which is crayfish proof but will still catch you carp. I like to fish a snowman presentation so fished a large 24mm bottom bait with a plastic pop up bait and caught plenty on Jetfish island. Had I switched to tiger nuts would I have caught as many? I don’t think so, so its worth keeping a few of these handy just in case and allows you to carry on fishing in confidence and perhaps bank a few of those Madine carp. I'll look at bait sizes next time.  c_1                   a
