It was mid afternoon and with two nice fish already landed that day it just got even better; the margin rod was away like a good run with the tip pulling right round. I was quickly on it and made the dash down the margin with the net.
The line was grating on something but it soon pinged off when I was above it, as the fish made a dash down the steep slopes of the lake. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake as before and I gave the fish plenty of stick as it felt decent.

The weather forecaster wasn’t wrong. The morning dawned overcast and moody, surely it wouldn’t be too long until it rained. The night had been quiet fish wise, although I did have a couple of fish crash on the spot I was fishing, which was encouraging.

The original plan was to pop down to the other side of Madrid to fish Orellana, but that plan hit a snag and so I had to rethink another idea, As much as I would have loved to have stayed on the Ebro, the fish were spawning and would be out of sorts for a while.

It's good to know the boilies are working and at first light with lots of big carp showing I get the rods back out and almost immediately have a low 30, again on the Monster Squid, then when it goes quiet on the close in rods I switch to the longer and deeper rods.
