 I have just got back from the second dedicated carp show in Hungary. The show itself was a great success. It had doubled in size from last year’s event and moved to a new hall. The show had great support from the trade and several thousand visitors turned up.

 Carp activity around the area seemed to be diminishing and it looked like the carp had departed for the bottom end of the arm now, this wasn’t unusual and no doubt they would return in a few days. I spotted them jumping about 1km down to my left next morning but some French anglers were fishing there so there was no point in moving.

 It was a lovely autumn morning when I awoke, not a cloud in the sky, nor a breath of wind, nor even a sound except for the occasional bird, it really is the most peaceful and beautiful lake to fish and just a joy and privilege to spend time there.

 Well the summer is over and it’s time to get the rods out once again for a mega session across the channel, and after a 2 month break away from fishing, I’m raring to go again. It’s good to have a break and recharge the batteries, plus the whole of Europe is on holiday and the big lakes are near impossible to fish what with boats, swimmers, jet skiers, yachts etc etc.
